CCNA Routing and switching syllabus 


The CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Routing and Switching certification is a beginner-level certification for network professionals. The full syllabus for the CCNA Routing and Switching certification includes the following topics:


  1. Network Fundamentals

  2. LAN Switching Technologies

  3. Routing Technologies

  4. WAN Technologies

  5. Infrastructure Services

  6. Infrastructure Security

  7. Infrastructure Management


Within each of these topics, there are several subtopics that will be covered, including:


  1. Network topologies and protocols

  2. IP addressing and subnetting

  3. Cisco IOS software and command-line interface

  4. VLANs, VLAN tagging, and VLAN trunking

  5. Routing protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP

  6. WAN technologies such as DSL, cable, and VPN

  7. Network security measures such as firewalls and access control lists

  8. Network management tools such as SNMP and syslog


It's also worth noting that the CCNA Routing and Switching certification is also divided into two exams, one for the routing and switching, and another for the security, wireless and cloud certification.



CCNP Routing Switching Syllabus


The CCNP Routing and Switching certification is a professional level Cisco certification that validates the knowledge and skills needed to plan, implement, verify, and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks. The full syllabus for the CCNP Routing and Switching certification includes the following topics:


  1. Network Fundamentals

  2. Layer 2 Technologies

  3. Layer 3 Technologies

  4. VPN Technologies

  5. Infrastructure Security

  6. Infrastructure Services


For each of these topics, you will be expected to have a deep understanding of the relevant protocols, technologies, and configuration best practices. Additionally, the CCNP certification requires you to pass three exams:


  1. 300-101 ROUTE: Implementing Cisco IP Routing

  2. 300-115 SWITCH: Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks

  3. 300-135 TSHOOT: Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks


You may also choose to specialize in one of the following tracks:


CCNP Enterprise

CCNP Security

CCNP Service Provider

CCNP Data Center

CCNP Collaboration


Each of these tracks will have their own specific syllabus, but they all build on the foundation of the CCNP Routing and Switching certification.

The CCNP Security certification is a professional-level Cisco certification that validates an individual's knowledge and skills in securing Cisco networks. The full syllabus for the CCNP Security certification includes the following topics:


  1. Implementing Cisco Secure Access Solutions (SISAS)

  2. Implementing Cisco Secure Mobility Solutions (SIMOS)

  3. Implementing Cisco Secure Network Servers (SNSR)

  4. Implementing Cisco Threat Control Solutions (SITCS)

  5. Implementing Cisco Secure Advanced Routing and Services (SIRS)


Each of these topics covers a specific area of network security, such as secure access, secure mobility, secure network servers, threat control, and advanced routing and services. The CCNP Security certification requires passing four exams:


300-208 SISAS

300-209 SIMOS

300-206 SNSR

300-207 SITCS

Each exam tests an individual's knowledge and skills in a specific area of network security, and successful completion of all four exams is required to earn the CCNP Security certification.
